This past Saturday, I had the joy of meeting and hanging out with the very vibrant and cheerful Pam Ly. This adorable young eighteen year old could captivate any audience. She just might have the prettiest eyes I’ve ever seen. She’s as funny as she is cute. When she was done making fun of me I asked her some pretty random and hopefully fun questions.

HMOODLE:  After you graduate, what are your plans?

Pam Ly:  I plan on going into cosmetology. I really like make up (laughs) I was thinking about going into computer work, like a computer technician. For now, I will probably just go to a community college and get my generals taken care of.

Hmoodle:  What school would you like to go to?

Pam Ly:  I would love to go to Aveda, but I think that might be out of my price range.

Hmoodle:  Besides make up, what other hobbies do you have?

Pam Ly:  I actually like hanging out with my family. I’m active and I like playing sports such as football, volleyball, badminton and tennis. My sister and I go play tennis. I really enjoy fishing…its really fun.

Hmoodle:  What is your ideal first date be?

Pam Ly:  My ideal first date would be where we are on top of the roof and we have a really nice view of the city lights. A candlelight dinner for two would be really romantic and I want it to be just the two of us there…no one else.

Hmoodle:  If you were to be stranded on an island and you could only bring three things, what would they be?

Pam Ly:  I really like drinking water, so that for sure. A family photo...well okay, I lied…a huge family photo with all my friends and everyone I care about. Last thing would be a digital camera.

Hmoodle:  If you could have three wishes, what they they be?

Pam Ly:  One would to become a cosmetologist, second would to be a computer technician, and the third would be to have a thousand more wishes.

Hmoodle:  Tell us an embarrassing story about yourself.

Pam Ly:  This is when I was 5th grader in California. It was me, my brother and my sister Anna. I told her that if she washed the dishes that I would cook for her and my brother. I was cooking the eggs and then for some reason, I thought the pan was cold and I pressed it against my leg and burned myself. So now I have this embarrassing scar on my leg.

Hmoodle:  Do you feel you are more Americanized or more traditional?

Pam Ly:  It’s kind of sad to say, but I am more Americanized. I grew up speaking English. We had lots of white friends growing up. Even when I was young I talked a lot of English to my mom. I still struggle with some Hmong words. My little sister knows more Hmong then I do and that’s kind of sad.

Hmoodle:  You seem to be very family oriented. Tell us a little more about that.

Pam Ly:  It’s all about family. Whatever you do with your family, nothing else matters because you’re with your family. At dinner we talk about everything. We have a good relationship with our parents. We are all pretty family oriented. We do picnics all the time. Our parents would come home early just to picnic.

Hmoodle:  Where do you see yourself in twenty years?

Pam Ly:  Married with more money then I have now. I want a really nice house by the lake. I want a house that is architecturally unique. Some kids…not too many *laugh* maybe three…I don’t know, I haven’t planned that out yet.

Hmoodle:  Anything else you’d like to throw out there?

Pam Ly:  I love my family. I miss my sister Mika. You need to come up and live here. We all miss you and love you. You know this is true family and you know you want this. It’s family Mika. I love you. You have to come up here and be with us.

I had a great time hanging out with Pam. She was a very fun person to be around. Expect big things from her in the near future. After I was finally able to pull Wild away from watching his chick flick (he has a secret passion for them…a whole other story in itself) we were on our way. Thanks again Pam! You rock!
