Myspace has connect people to old friends from the past and introduced us to new friends we may have never met without its resource. That is how I came to know the Hmoodle girl for the Month of August. Through a spontaneous friend request I've gotten to know Pang Lee.
Pang is a recently graduated from the University of Minnesota a little over a year ago and since has become a career girl with a love of the outdoors. She's also not afraid to admit food is like an addiction---a weakness we can all relate to. She's a pretty girl with a fun attitude, which makes doing a photo shoot easy an easy task. Although she had no previous modeling experience she was like a pro. We at Hmoodle want to congratulate Pang Lee for being our Hmoodle Girl for the Month of August. Get to know more about Pang, as we discussed her life and allow our readers to look into the window of the life of Pang Lee. Ryan: First of Pang, I want to congratulate you for being our Hmoodle Girl for the Month of August. Pang: Thank you so much! I want to thank everyone at Hmoodle for this wonderful opportunity and especially a big thank you to Jabb and Ryan. Ryan: Before we get going, why don't you tell our readers a little bit about yourself? Pang: I am 23 years old and from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. I grew up in small town Lansing, Michigan and moved to Minnesota a few years back. I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with my Bachelors of Science degree. Currently I am working full-time as a Human Resources Generalist and Payroll processor. I have a small family for being Hmong, I think laughs. I spend a lot of time with my four siblings. We do a lot together and are very close. Other things that I absolutely can't live without, and I'm sure a lot of girls can relate to laughs is that I love shopping for shoes! A girl can never have too many shoes. And of course if you know me you know food is my weakness. I'm always up for a Sushi and Pho anytime, they are my favorites! I love nature and outdoor activities. A picnic at the park on a sunny day, swimming and sun bathing is always on my summer time to do list. I can't live without music it helps me get through anything and I enjoy writing creatively or just blogging away. I love all my wonderful friends, being silly, exploring the night life and going on exciting adventures. Lastly I love being Hmong and learning more about my own culture! Ryan: You mentioned earlier that you received your major in Bachelors of Science. What lead you to that major? Pang: I was always interested in some kind of business, but didn't want to just focus on one particular thing. I wanted something flexible with a lot of areas to explore. Human Resources is so broad, you can do much with it and take it anywhere you go. Almost every business has a HR department. HR is the foundation of a business. You learn so much in this industry. I also enjoy working with people, and enhancing my knowledge in employment law and relations. My biggest motivation would have to be my Hmong Community. Especially what I see my parents go through and the older generation who are not educated. I want to be able to reach out to them and educate them on employment laws, policies and regulations, and let them know that yes they do have a voice in the work place. Also, one of my main in the near future goals is to attend Grad school or Law School and study Employment Law. Majoring in Human Resources is the first step to achieving this goal. Ryan: During your time at the U of M, you were able to study abroad in Thailand. What was that experience like? Pang: Thailand was amazing!!! I totally encourage everyone to go! Especially college students, take advantage of your resources. There's so much out there in the world to see and learn. Studying abroad in Thailand was one of the most amazing experiences of my college career. It was like tracing back my roots. I visited a Hmong village, experience the Hmong life in Thailand, and taught English to a group of Hmong students. I also learned so much about the Thai culture and its beautiful language. I lived in the dorms at Khon Khean University, where I took classes on Thai language and culture. I also visited a Buddhist village, which opened my eyes so much to a world outside of what I'm use to. I explore the city of Bangkok, the country sides, and even had the chance to visit the Mighty Mekong River that played such a crucial and emotional role in the history of the Hmong people. I spent a wonderful weekend in Laos as well. Ryan: Do you look forward to going back? Pang: Yes, I do very much look forward to going back. I'm not sure exactly when, but hopefully soon. I would love to spend more time in the Hmong villages, visit families in Laos and attend New Year festivities. Ryan: You said that you love to travel. Have you been to any other interesting places? Pang: I just got back from Hawaii two weeks ago! That was a very exciting and interesting trip. Hawaii is gorgeous and breathtaking. The beaches are a must see! Ryan: In our conversations, you mentioned that you like to be involved with different organizations. Which organizations are you involved with and what do they do? Pang: The main organization that I am a part of right now is the Lis youth group. It's more of a family organization that focuses on the youth in the Lee clan. I was and still am a member and alumni with Admission Possible, an organization that supports and encourages youth for higher education. Other than that I do volunteer work on my free time with Girl Scouts, Metro Meals on Wheel, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and programs around my neighborhood. Ryan: Summer is almost coming to an end. Were you able to relax and enjoy it at all? Pang: I've been working all summer, but Hawaii so far has been the highlight of this summer. I was able to break away and just relax, go sun bathing, and wake up to the beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. Ryan: Any plans for the remainder of the summer? Pang: Summer is flying by so fast I wish I can put it on pause Ryan: I need to thank you once again Pang, for being apart of Hmoodle. Do you have any last words for our readers? Pang: I just to thank Hmoodle once again for this opportunity. It was a pleasure to be Hmoodle girl for the month of August. You guys are awesome so keep up the great work. I also would like to thank all the readers for taking the time to read about me. If anyone has any questions or would like to know more information on HR, college or anything please feel free to contact me at pa_emi15@hotmail.com or find me on Myspace at www.myspace.com/missemistar. Lastly I leave you all with a little wisdom and one of my favorite quotes from Eleanor Roosevelt "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do". Obviously Pang is a girl who makes goals and achieves them. Not only with her career goals, but in life as well. Definitely someone we can all take notes from. Once again, I want to thank Pang for being apart of Hmoodle and congratulate her once again for being our Hmoodle girl for the month of August.
